Practice Areas

The chambers works on the civil side of the law. Below are the seven areas it handles, each explained in plain language: what the area of law covers, and the kind of matter that falls within it.

Civil law is the part of the law that decides disputes between persons — about property, money, family status, agreements and inheritance — rather than punishing offences. A civil matter is normally begun by a plaint or petition, proved largely on documents, and decided by a decree that the court can then execute.

If you are not sure which of the seven areas your problem belongs to, that is ordinary and not a difficulty: the same set of facts often touches two or three of them at once. Read whichever page seems closest and telephone the chambers.

Not sure where your matter fits?

Telephone the chambers during working hours and describe the matter in a sentence or two. You will be told what papers are relevant and whether the matter is one the chambers handles.
